About this accessible private driver-guided tour of the Highlights of Stockholm

Your driver-guide will meet you at the cruise port or city center accommodation, with a sign with your name on it. Today you will enjoy the capital of Sweden from the comfort of your vehicle, with plenty of photo stops and anecdotes from your local, knowledgeable driver-guide. The itinerary is flexible. If you wish to make some additional stops or include an inside private guided visit in any of the museums, please contact us for options and possibilities. The order of the sights may differ, depending on your port of call or accommodation location.

If your ship docks in the port of Nynäshamn, this will add approximately 2 hours to the total tour time. Contact us for options and possibilities.

Royal Palace

One of the main sights on this tour is the Royal Palace. This is one of the largest Palaces in Europe, and up until today, it still is the official residence of the Swedish King. In 1697 the ‘Tre Kronor’ castle burned down, and it took 57 years for the rebuilding to be finished. Today it houses a variety of museums, and inside, you can admire royal customers and armor, coronation carriages, and magnificent coaches from the Royal Stable.

Stockholm ‘Gamla Stan’, the Old Town

Next up is the oldest part of Stockholm, ‘Gamla Stan’, or the Old Town. The Old Town of Stockholm is one of the largest medieval city centers in Europe. Here you can find various famous churches and museums, including the National Cathedral and the Nobel Prize Museum. Note that the city center can be quite cobbled.

Swedish Parliament and the City Hall

Other attractions worth taking pictures of are the Swedish Parliament and the City Hall. The City Hall is not only where the Nobel banquet is held. However, it is also one of the most famous silhouettes of Stockholm, thanks to its 106-meter tower with the golden Three Crowns. City Hall is a leading example of national romanticism in architecture, which is probably why it is often used for wedding ceremonies! It is also quite often mistaken by tourists as the Royal Castle.

Djurgården

For some relaxation and tranquility, we head towards Djurgården, an oasis in the middle of Stockholm. Here you find the city’s most famous museums and cultural attractions, such as the Vasa Museum, the Abba museum, the Nordic Museum, and Skansen, just to name a few. Moreover, there is green nature, parks, and plenty of activities to do on a beautiful summer day.

Norrmalmstorg

Your driver-guide will pass the Stockholm City Center, including the Norrmalms Square. This is the location wherein 1973, the now-famous bank robbery and hostage took place, which is best known as the origin of the term ‘Stockholm syndrome.’

On this day, your driver will also show you the best stops for a photo location, such as on the Riddarholmen for the City Hall and one right opposite the castle.

Swedish Fika

For those interested in the local culinary treats, make sure to ask your driver-guide about the Swedish Fika, coffee, together with a bun! Depending on the time of the year, we can include a stop. However, this will take out time for the overall tour. Especially during the high season, the restaurants are bustling.

At the end of the tour, your driver-guide will take you back to the cruise port or your accommodation.
