About this Wheelchair Accessible Visit to Valldemossa and Sa Foradada

Valldemossa

On this Accessible Valldemossa and Sa Foradada tour, you will visit the most beautiful villages in Mallorca together with your guide. Your first visit is Valldemossa. A beautiful town where you can roll around the charming little streets with cafés and galleries. Buy a souvenir and try the typical “coca de patata.” You also visit the famous “Real Cartuja de Valldemossa.” This is an old Carthusian monastery where the renowned Polish composer and pianist Chopin spent the winter of 1838-1839.

During these years, Frederic Chopin and his loved one rented a former monk’s cell at the Royal Carthusian Monastery. Their affair was the subject of much gossip, so they took refuge in Valldemossa. As Chopin suffered from tuberculosis, they thought that the warm climate would help him recover. This was sadly not the case, because the weather was wet and cold and on top, the citizens of Mallorca rejected them. Eventually, Chopin’s health started to fail. The lovers argued with the villagers and each other. This resulted in the lover and writer George Sand (author pseudonym) taking out her frustrations by writing ‘A winter in Mallorca.’

Sa Foradada

Next, you continue along the coast and make a stop in Sa Foradada. Wander around and see the particular hole-in-the-wall rock formation by the water. Some say it resembles an elephant from afar. Enjoy the sights of the olive groves, lush pine trees and old sea caves.

Sollér

At the end of this tour, you go to the beautiful town of Sollér, famous for its orange trees, its charm, and beautiful scenery and nature. The village is situated in a valley surrounded by lots of green. People call it the Golden Valley because of the massive amounts of oranges and lemon trees. This fruit export industry was the base of the wealth of the town, which can be seen in the railway, tram lines, and the grand merchant houses all over the city.
