Highlights of this tour
- Accessible kayak
- Accessibility assistance
- Theoretical and practical lessons
This accessible kayak experience takes place on the beautiful Spanish island of Mallorca. It is an introduction to kayaking, so there will be some instructions and class beforehand. The classes will be both theoretical and practical. First things first, the kayak will be adapted to the individual. No disability is the same, therefore each kayak will be adjusted accordingly. Next, the participant will get instructions on how to handle the paddle. It is essential to know how you have to position your arms and how to rotate the body.
You will also learn how to go forward and backward and how to make circles to the left and the right. Lastly, you learn how to stop the kayak. Once you get the hang of the basics, it is time to hit the water! Each kayak can accommodate two people. This means that you will be accompanied by a qualified supervisor the entire time.
Before starting, you have to fill in a form, and you will have to pass a simple test to see if there are no impediments.
For those wishing to improve their health and seeking a low-impact activity, kayaking is ideal! It gets your heart rate up, makes your muscles work without causing unnecessary strain on your joints. Kayaking also has a variety of other health benefits, such as building lean muscles, burning calories, and emptying your mind. On top of that, when you are out and about, you are upping your vitamin D levels, which is also very good for your health!
Besides kayaking, the accessible sports paradise of Mallorca offers a variety of other sports. Like golfing, sailing, sailing on land, scuba diving, and water skiing. Therefore, the island is very beloved by the disabled visitor.
