Highlights of this tour
- A visit to the island of Kvaløya
- Wildlife spotting
- Lunch at a local cafe
You will be picked up with a fully accessible vehicle and your private driver-guide shows you the southern part of the island. This wheelchair accessible Kvaløya tour, takes you to Kvaløya, an island just to the west of Tromsø. Kvaløya and Tromsø are connected by a bridge so it is an ideal day trip! The nickname of the island is ‘Whale Island’. So, with a little bit of luck, you will spot some whales over there!
Keep your eyes open for reindeers and other wildlife when driving around Kvaløya. Animal lovers will definitely enjoy this tour! Other than that, there are many other sites to explore on this island. You can visit the sandy arctic beaches, and you can see the mountainous area with spectacular scenery. You can also spot the surrounding islands, the coastlines, and the Lyngen Alps. The southern part of the island even has its own Fjord, named the Kattfjord.
On the way to the island of Kvaløya, we also pass Sommarøy, and the impressive Kattfjord.
We included lunch in a local cafe on this trip because only then you can have a fully authentic Norwegian experience! You will not regret trying the local cuisine specialties on this island. Overall, the Norwegian cuisine is based on raw materials found in nature.
The locals focus on fish with lots of fresh ingredients that grow just outside in the garden. Cooks use berries, apples, and mushrooms for the special flavors of the food. Try some traditional cheeses such as Gjetost and Gammelost. It is up to you to discover how they taste! Healthy food, fresh air and loads to see. You will not want to leave!
*lunch price is not included
