About this wheelchair accessible Vittoriosa and Tarxien Temples tour

See Vittoriosa and the Tarxien Temples on this wheelchair accessible four hour tour. First, you meet your private guide at the cruise port or your accommodation with a private adapted vehicle. Together, you then make your way to Vittoriosa, a historic harbour city, before continuing to the prehistoric Tarxien Temples.

Vittoriosa

Today’s tour heads to the southern part of the island, to the historic city of Vittoriosa. Also called Birgu, this is one of Malta’s oldest and most historic cities, and a must-see when visiting Malta. When the Knights of the Order of Malta arrived on the island in 1530, they used Birgu as their base. Its name comes from the word Borgo, which is Italian for “village”. As you make your way through the town, you explore various narrow streets, lined on both sides by historic buildings and churches. Along the way, charming squares and impressive fortifications.

Tarxien Temples

Leaving Vittoriosa behind you, your next site visit is the famous Tarxien Temples. This UNESCO World Heritage Site is one of Malta’s most important prehistoric monuments, dating from approximately 3150 to 2500 BC. Raenowned for its remarkable stone carvings and intricate reliefs, the complex reflects a culture that flourished here over 5,000 years ago. The site is accessible for wheelchair users by means of ramps and lifts.
At the end of the day, your guide brings you back to the cruise port or your accommodation again.
