This tour is also available with an officially licensed guide who is allowed to tour inside the sights. The itinerary is very flexible, so let us know if there is an attraction missing you wish to see!

St. Margeret’s Bay

Discover the local towns and villages of South East Kent while enjoying amazing views over the famous white cliffs of Dover. Your driver guide takes you along the white cliffs to St. Margeret’s Bay. Here you get to see the closest pub to France and you have some time to stroll around and enjoy the area. Near the pub, you see one of the summer houses that belongs to none other than Sir Ian Fleming, the famous author of the James Bond stories.

Next up is a scenic drive to Walmer Castle, which is the summer home of the late Queen, and you see Deal Castle, a famous Rose Castle.

The Castles

The Walmer Castle was built in order to protect England from an invasion from France and the Roman empire. Throughout the years, the castle has been used for different purposes. Now it is a famous tourist attraction where you find stunning gardens. Deal Castle is an artillery fortress in the shape of a Rose. Back in the days, this stunning building was used for the same purpose as the Walmer Castle: to keep the enemy out. Now it is a museum that shows artifacts of those times.

Cream tea

The next stop on this wheelchair accessible Dover tour is the town of Sandwhich where you will see some of its amazing architecture. Here you have time to stroll around and take that picture with the road sign that says Ham/Sandwich! In the center of the city, you find tons of pubs and restaurants where you can try the typical cream tea. This is not just having tea with milk, like the English prefer. Having a cream tea refers to having tea with delicious scones and a dot of cream. Another must-try when you are near Dover is to taste some of the famous fish and chips.

Canterbury Cathedral

After the visit of Sandwhich, you will enjoy the Canterbury landscape and country-side on your scenic drive to the well-known Cathedral. This impressive structure is one of the oldest and most famous Christian churches in England. It is a World Heritage site. During its years of existence, the church survived a big fire, after which they extended large parts of the side wings. Every year the church attracts many pilgrims who visit the shrine of Thomas Becket, the archbishop who was murdered in the Cathedral in 1170.

Please note that you have the option to include inside visits of the sights. Your driver-guide cannot accompany inside though, and when you decide to include any visit, this will leave less time for the other stops. An officially licensed guide can be arranged. They are allowed to tour inside the various sights.

When everyone is ready to go, your driver brings you back to your accommodation or cruise port.
