Historical Peninsula
Istanbul became the capital of the Roman Empire in 333 AD, and under its rule, the population grew to 200.000. It is the only city in the world that has served as a capital for three empires.
The oldest part of Istanbul is the “Historical Peninsula,” also known as the Old Town. Here, you find many historical sights, consisting of Byzantine and Ottoman-built monuments. This Historical Peninsula is listed as a World Heritage Site and includes the Topkapi Palace, and the Hagia Sofia. The Old Town is encircled by the old city walls, the Marmara Sea, and the Bosphorus river. On this tour, you will enjoy the comforts of modern life while seeing a glimpse of history.
