About this Wheelchair Accessible City of Palma and Bellver Castle tour

Cathedral La Seu

You meet your driver and your guide directly at the cruise port or your accommodation, with private adapted vehicle. He/She will be waiting with a sign with your name on it and together you head to the city of Palma. Spend your Palma and Bellver Castle Tour rolling around the lovely city of Palma and learn more about its architecture and history. Today you will see many influences of both Moorish and European eras.

The first stop is the Gothic Cathedral La Seu that dominates the entire landscape. You will discover that most of the main touristic sites are located within the old city walls of Palma. Antoni Gaudi was once invited to take over the restoration of this cathedral. However due to an argument with the contractor, he left the project. Even though he did not finish the restoration, some of his ideas were actually adopted.

Palace of L’Almudaina

Next on your Palma and Bellver Castle Tour is the Palace of L’Almudaina. Both the cathedral La Seu and the Palau de l’Almudaina overlook the harbor and will provide you with spectacular views out to sea, including a view of Bellver Castle situated high above the town. The Palace was originally an Islamic fort, but it was eventually converted into the home of the Mallorcan monarchs. The King of Spain still resides here symbolically, on rare occassion.

Bellver Castle

The third stop on this Palma and Bellver Castle tour is the Bellver Castle. It is a Gothic-style building that dates back from the 14th century and was originally built for King James II of Mallorca. What makes this castle so unique and special, is its round shape. It is the only round castle you will find in Spain. Roll around the castle that used to be a prison for so many years. Nowadays it is a museum and a visitor attraction. Go to the upper floor for scenic views of Palma city! Read more about this castle and its accessibility in this blog.

Town Hall

The tour also passes by the Town Hall, with its 800 years old olive tree, and the King Gardens. At the end of the tour, your driver and your guide will bring you back to the cruise port or your hotel.
