Oslo Opera House

You will pass one of Oslo’s most famous landmarks: the striking Oslo Opera House. Its award-winning design makes it one of the city’s architectural icons and unlike most opera houses around the world.

The building is designed so visitors can walk on its sloping marble roof, offering unique perspectives from every angle. Situated beside the Oslo Fjord, it provides spectacular waterfront views. Designed by the renowned architectural firm Snøhetta, the Opera House opened in 2008 after four years of construction and has since received several prestigious awards, including the World Architecture Festival Award and the European Union Prize for Contemporary Architecture.

Royal Palace

During this tour, you will also see the official residence of the King and Queen of Norway. Although the palace is only open to the public during selected periods of the year, its elegant exterior and rich history make it one of Oslo’s most impressive landmarks.

Built during the 19th century, the Royal Palace is one of Norway’s finest examples of Neoclassical architecture. It is surrounded by the beautiful Palace Park, where you can enjoy peaceful green surroundings and admire several historic statues, some dating back to 1875. Part of the park, known as the Queen’s Park, is open to visitors from 18 May until 1 October.

Karl Johans Gate & Parliament

Karl Johans gate is Oslo’s lively main boulevard and the heart of the city centre. Stretching from Central Station to the Royal Palace, it is lined with historic buildings, cafés, restaurants and shops. Along the way, you’ll pass the Norwegian Parliament, an elegant 19th-century building that has been the centre of Norwegian democracy since 1866.

Oslo City Hall

Note that: During the tour, you’ll pass the building while your guide explains its history and importance to Norwegian civic life. As entry requires security screening and waiting times can vary considerably, interior visits are not included in the tour programme.

Vigeland Sculpture Park

Vigeland Sculpture Park is the life’s work of Norwegian sculptor Gustav Vigeland. Home to more than 200 sculptures crafted from granite, bronze and wrought iron, it is the world’s largest sculpture park created by a single artist. Vigeland dedicated more than 40 years of his life to creating this remarkable open-air gallery.

As you explore the park, you’ll encounter expressive sculptures depicting people of all ages and stages of life. Many of the artworks are symbolic and open to interpretation, inviting visitors to reflect on human emotions, relationships and the cycle of life.
