Highlights of this tour
- Rodven Stave Church (outside only)
- Romsdalen valley
- Rauma river
- Trollveggen / The Troll Wall
Known as the gateway to Romsdal Alps, Åndalsnes is thé starting point for exploring the surrounding mountain landscapes and green areas. Your accessible tour in Åndalsnes starts with a visit to Rodven Stave Church. They built the church in the 13th century and it is one of the remaining stave churches in Norway. Stave churches are Medieval wooden churches. They were once very common in Northern-Europe, but now only a few remain.
Your journey continues towards the Romsdalen valley. This valley features some of the most spectacular scenery in Norway. The valley is surrounded by magnificent mountain landscapes on both sides. In the lively valley runs the wild Rauma river filled with salmon. The valley is supposedly one of the most monumental and romantic valleys of Norway, so definitely worth a visit! One of the cliff formations in Romsdalen is Trollveggen (the Troll Wall) which is your next stop.
The Troll Wall is probably the most impressive highlight of your tour. With its vertical drop of over 1000 meters, the mountain was an early launch site for European base jumpers. Be amazed by how big the wall is and how small you are in comparison. See the eternal snow on the mountain tops and breathe in the fresh air!
You can expect general information from the driver guide about the area, but this tour’s main purpose is for taking in the landscapes and snapping some beautiful nature shots.
