About Katakolon & Olympia

Katakolon is a port and coastal village in the Peloponnese, West Greece. After Piraeus, it is one of the busiest ports in Greece. The reason why it is so popular is that Katakolon is the port entrance to Olympia. This is the birthplace of the Olympic games, which held their first edition in 776 B.C. This authentic and beautiful archeological site is a must-see when docking in Katakolon.

Besides visiting Ancient Olympia, there is enough to do and see for everyone. From strolling around the Old Town to wine tasting with breathtaking views. The countryside will amaze you with its green hills, valleys, vineyards, olive gropes, typical villages, and crystal blue waters. In Katakolon, you discover a more authentic side of Greece.
