About this Wheelchair Accessible Delphi Tour from Athens

Delphi is a spectacular historical day trip you can make from Athens. On this full-day wheelchair accessible Delphi tour, you discover the ancient sanctuary of Apollo, a UNESCO World Heritage Site set against the dramatic slopes of Mount Parnassos.

Your private driver and licensed guide meet you at your Athens city centre accommodation or cruise port. Together, you head out in a private adapted vehicle for the approximately 2.5-hour panoramic drive northwest through the Greek countryside. As the scenery shifts from city to mountain, your guide brings Delphi to life, sharing its history, myths, and everything worth knowing before you arrive.

Arriving at Delphi

Delphi sits high on the slopes of Mount Parnassos, with views over the valley and all the way to the Gulf of Corinth. For centuries, it was the most important religious site in ancient Greece. People travelled from across the world to consult the Oracle of Apollo, a priestess who was believed to speak the words of the god himself.

The archaeological site covers a large area across the hillside. Because the terrain can be steep and uneven, it is not possible to explore it by wheelchair. The site offers a golf cart that can takes you up to the Temple of Apollo, where you enjoy panoramic views over the sanctuary. To use this cart, you need to be able to transfer out of your wheelchair or scooter.

The Delphi Archaeological Museum

The Delphi museum is fully wheelchair accessible. An elevator takes you to the permanent exhibition, and a specially designed route, guides you through all the rooms without obstacles.

Inside, you find one of the best collections of ancient Greek art in the country. The most famous piece is the Charioteer of Delphi, a bronze sculpture from around 478 BC that is remarkably well preserved. You also see the Sphinx of Naxos, friezes from the sanctuary’s treasuries, and hundreds of offerings that were made to Apollo over the centuries.

Accessible toilets are available in the museum. Your entry ticket has to be paid on the day. Reduced entry is available for wheelchair and scooter users.

The Drive Back to Athens

After your visit, your driver and guide take you back to Athens. Drop-off is at your city centre accommodation or cruise port.
