About this wheelchair accessible Bath and Lacock Village tour

Your English-speaking driver-guide meets you at your accommodation in central London. During this Bath and Lacock Village tour, you visit two different villages. First you drive to Bath, and explore this old and famous UNESCO world heritage city. Bath is located by the River Avon, 18 kilometers (11 miles) south of Bristol. Also this day, you visit the historical village, Lacock.

Bath

Bath’s compact, visitor-friendly city center is mainly famous for its Roman spa and its stunning honey-colored Georgian architecture. The city has many places to eat and drink, and some most excellent independent shops. Moreover, Bath is full of attractions and activities. A visit to Bath can be anything you want it to be. Today, Bath has around 80.000 inhabitants and is the second most visited city in England. Hills surround the town, and many buildings in Bath are built from a whitish local stone, the so-called ‘Bath stone.’ The elegant 18th-century architecture dominates the entire city.

Bath and Lacock Village tour

During your Bath and Lacock Village tour, you stroll through charming neo-Classical Georgian streets, enjoy its unique beauty, stories of Royal patronage and high society, and the elegance of its buildings, including the gothic Bath Abbey. The Abbey is a church with a distinctive atmosphere and rich history, built of the local Bath stone, which gives the exterior its yellow color. The church is a former Benedictine monastery and founded in the 7th century, however reconstructed in the 10th century and rebuilt in the 12th and 16th centuries. The Abbey has plenty of magnificent stained-glass windows and fan vaulting, which create an extraordinary experience of light and space in the church. Bath Abbey is still a living church with services taking place throughout the entire week.

Lacock

From Bath to Lacock is an approximate 30 minutes’ drive. Lacock is one of the most picturesque villages in England. All of the buildings in the city date from the 13th to the 18th century. During your Bath and Lacock Village tour, you see a number of these historic buildings and houses. The most famous place is Lacock Abbey, the focal point of the area, from which the town you see today sprang into life 900 years ago. Lacock is one of the few communities that has remained in its original state. You will not find any modern street lights or solar panels here, and because of this, the filmmakers of the Harry Potter movies used this town as a film location. The small village has only 1.000 inhabitants, but because of Harry Potter, it now receives over 500.000 visitors every year.

After this historical tour, your driver-guide drops you off at your accommodation in central London.
