About this wheelchair accessible Málaga Cultural Day tour from Motril

Your day begins in Motril, where you are picked up from the cruise port or your city center accommodation in a private adapted vehicle. From there, your driver takes you to Málaga, a city known for its rich heritage and welcoming atmosphere. On the 2-hour panoramic drive there, you will be able to enjoy many mesmerizing views of vast mountain ranges as well as gorgeous coastal landscapes.

Málaga Cathedral

Arriving in Málaga, as you leave your accessible vehicle, you will quickly be greeted by wide pedestrian streets, accessible public spaces, and a lively historic center. This is where you meet up with your private licensed guide, with whom you will spend the next three hours of this tour.

One of the most famous historic buildings in the city is the Cathedral of Málaga. This site is also the first stop during your walk/roll through Málaga. Built on the site of a former mosque after the Christian conquest in 1487. Its construction spanned centuries, but the cathedral was never fully finished, giving it a unique character. This cathedral is dedicated to the Virgin of the Incarnation and is one of Spain’s great Renaissance landmarks.

Accessibility note: the cathedral can be entered step-free via an inclined path and ramps. Inside the cathedral, the stone floors are smooth and flat.

Alcazaba of Málaga

Continuing your visit, you will explore the Alcazaba of Málaga, one of the city’s most important and best-preserved Moorish fortresses. It was built in the 11th century during the Muslim period of Al-Andalus and once served as both a military stronghold and a royal residence.

Please note the Alcazaba is not fully wheelchair accessible due to its historic layout, uneven surfaces, and steep sections. However, you can still experience part of the upper area using an elevator. From the top, there are stunning panoramic views over Málaga. It is good to know that this elevator does not operate on Mondays.

Málaga City Center

After your guided visits, you say goodbye to your guide and continue into Málaga’s vibrant city center, where you can have some lunch and enjoy free time at your own pace. The historic center is known for its wide pedestrian streets, lively atmosphere, and generally accessible layout, making it comfortable to explore with a mobility aid. A must-visit is Calle Marqués de Larios , the most famous street in Málaga’s historic center. Throughout the area, you can find many restaurants, accessible terraces, shaded seating areas, and plenty of opportunities to relax and enjoy the Andalusian lifestyle at your own pace.

At the end of your tour, you return to your accessible vehicle and are brought back to your cruise port or city center accommodation in Motril.
