About this wheelchair Accessible Kristiansund, Atlanterhavsveien, and Averøy tour

Join us for a spectacular wheelchair-accessible tour in Norway. Enjoy stunning views and see the fjords up close. You will find your driver-guide at the cruise port. He will be waiting for you with a sign with your name on it. Once you are seated comfortably, you are good to go.

Kristiansund

During this driver guided tour, you get to enjoy the beautiful surroundings of Kristiansund, an old port town situated on three tiny coastal islets facing the Norwegian Sea. This important fishing town has ruins dating back to the Fosna culture, about 8000 bc. Many of its inhabitants live from the cod fishing industry.

While you drive through Kristiansund, you will see the city center and learn everything about the fishing industry, coastal culture and the local fish and chips that they call ‘fisjan’.

The Atlantic Highway

From Kristiansund, you head towards the Atlantic Road, or as the locals call it: Atlanterhavsveien. It is an 8-kilometer stretch of road that crosses an archipelago in the municipalities of Eide and Averøy, in the region of Nordmøre, the central-western part of the Norwegian coast.

The Atlantic Highway connects the island of Averøy with the mainland and the peninsula of Romsdalshalvøya. The road is built over several tiny islands connected by roads, viaducts, and bridges, with the Storseisundet Bridge being the most prominent and popular.

Fun fact: The Atlantic Highway was used as a backdrop for the 2022 James Bond movie: No Time to Die. The movie shows the final appearance of Daniel Craig as 007.

Before returning to Kristiansund, you drive around Batnfjordsøra, over the Krifast underwater tunnel and a long bridge, followed by a small mountain section called Fursetfjellet down to Hjelset and driving along Romsdalsfjorden.

At the end of the tour, your local driver guide brings you back to the cruise port again.
