About this scenic tour in and around Bud

During this 4-hour private driving tour, you get to see breathtaking views during the drive and at the stops. Norway is an amazing country that offers many panoramic routes, views, and history. In and around Bud you get to experience a combination of the three.

The tour starts from the port in Molde where your English-speaking driver-guide will pick you up in an adapted vehicle.

Atlantic Road

Have you ever been on a roadway that is located on the sea? If not, then today is the day to discover how that feels.

The Atlantic Road, or ‘Atlanterhavsveien’ in Norwegian, is surrounded by the ocean. In the distance, you can see the typical striking mountains of Norway. Your driver-guide will make a stop on this road to give you a moment to take in the view.

While driving over this enormous ‘bridge’, you will also pass several small islands. The road was even voted as Norway’s Engineering Feat of the Century in 2005. Furthermore, it is not only seen as something spectacular by engineers, but the entire world agrees that it is one of the world’s most beautiful drives.

The construction of the road took a long time. It started in 1983 and was only finished in 1989. The workers had to endure as many as 12 hurricanes during the project.

Fun fact: You may see something familiar during the drive on Atlantic Road. If you have watched the James Bond movies, you will know that he filmed a scene on this very particular road, in ‘No time to die.’

Bud

When arriving in Bud, there is some time to explore the village. It is a fishing village facing the infamous stretch of the Hustadvika sea. Bud has a rich history since it was one of the biggest trading venues between Trondheim and Bergen in the 16th century.

If you walk/roll on the ‘coastal path’, you will see various boards, explaining more about the history of Bud.

At the end of this scenic tour, your local driver-guide returns along the Atlantic Road. If you are lucky, you may experience a breathtaking sunset.

Varden Vest Lookout Point

At Varden Vest lookout point, you’ll have the opportunity to capture stunning photographs of the natural beauty surrounding Molde. On a clear day, you can enjoy panoramic views of the entire city and spot the landmarks you’ve passed during your tour. Turning in the opposite direction, you’ll be greeted by breathtaking vistas of the water and the majestic mountaintops.

At the end of your tour, your driver will return you to the port or the city center of Molde.
