About this wheelchair accessible Mdina and Rabat tour

See Mdina and Rabat during this four hour tour. Your private guide will meet you at the cruise port or your accommodation with private adapted transport. She will be holding a sign with your name on it. On this wheelchair accessible Mdina and Rabat tour, you discover Malta’s ancient capital and the nearby town of Rabat. Together you go on a scenic drive to Mdina, where your tour begins.

Mdina

Your tour begins in Mdina, Malta’s ancient capital. The “Silent City” has witnessed the country’s major historical events thanks to its strategic position on one of Malta’s highest plateaus. As you walk and roll through its narrow streets, your guide shares stories of its rich past. This walled city also enjoys spectacular views of the countryside from the bastions. Please note that these bastions are not accessible when in a wheelchair.

Mdina Cathedral

Next you visit St. Paul’s Cathedral, also known as Mdina Cathedral. This beautiful Baroque church stands on the spot where, by tradition, St. Paul met the Roman Governor Publius after his shipwreck on Malta. Inside you can admire its splendid architecture and beautiful artworks, full of history.

The cathedral itself is wheelchair accessible by ramp, and the cathedral museum next door has a lift. You reach it through Mdina’s narrow, cobbled streets, so your guide always picks the smoothest route for you.

The Roman Villa

From Mdina you head to neighbouring Rabat, home to the Roman Villa, also called the Domus Romana. This popular site lies on the edge of Rabat and was discovered in 1881. It gives you a lovely glimpse of how the Romans lived while they ruled over Malta. Inside you can admire the beautiful mosaic floors, still in perfect condition after all these years.

At the end of the day, your guide takes you back to the cruise port or your accommodation again.

Please note that the Mdina Cathedral is closed on Sundays.
