About this wheelchair accessible Tangier and Surroundings tour

Your driver and your private guide will meet you at the cruiseport, and together you will head to the wheelchair accessible Tangier area. Today you will explore the main highlights of this beautiful city. We will mainly use the vehicle to move from one area to another. However, the tour will continue on foot or by rolling whenever possible.

Please consider that the order of the route may vary:
You will begin the tour with a visit to the old town, the Kasbah of Tangier, located at the highest point in the city. The Kasbah is a historic fortress with stunning views of the Strait of Gibraltar and Spain.

In this area, you will find the Makhzen Palace and the Kasbah Museum. The palace, an impressive example of Arab-Andalusian architecture, was built during the colonial era and houses a rich collection of artwork and historical artifacts. The visit inside is not included, but it can be arranged upon request.

Medina

Following the tour, you will spend some time in the famous medina. People know it for its narrow, winding streets and lively souks. The historic architecture adds to its charm.

This is a must-see when visiting Tangier. In this lively area, you will find markets, artisan shops, and charming cafes. A great place to experience the culture and daily life of the locals exists.

Inside the Medina you will have the chance to see the main attractions, such as the Petit Socco or 9 April 1947 Square. This is a popular square at the entrance of the Medina. The Grand Socco is a central gathering place, surrounded by cafes, shops and offering a vibrant atmosphere.

In the heart of the medina, you find The Great Mosque. This impressive mosque dates back to the 18th century. Today, Muslims consider it a sacred place, and they do not permit visits to the interior. However, you can admire the stunning details of its architecture from the exterior.

Time for lunch exists in the Medina. (Not included).

Hercules Caves and Cap Spartel

After lunch, you head to the Hercules Caves and Cap Spartel.

Cap Spartel is a beautiful headland. The northwestern tip of Africa. Here, the Atlantic Ocean meets the Mediterranean Sea.

The cape is a Nature Reserve. It has a lighthouse from the mid-nineteenth century. The architect François Léonce Reynad designed it. Mosque designs inspired him.

Next up, your guide will take you to the nearby Caves of Hercules, a famous mythological site. Just a heads-up: the caves are not accessible for people with limited mobility or wheelchair users.

After the visit of Tangier, there are two options:

Assilah city

The tour continues to Assilah city, which is approximately a 60 minutes scenic drive. Assilah city is a charming fishing town. A perfect place to disconnect from the hustle and bustle of a sprawling metropolitan area. You will have time to explore the streets, visit the souk or browse in shops selling crafts and antiques.

Corniche Drive

The Corniche Drive is a beautiful coastal road that offers stunning views of the Atlantic Ocean and the Mediterranean Sea. It runs along the coastline, connecting different parts of the city, including Malabata Beach. Here is the perfect moment for some picture taking of the breathtaking ocean panoramas.

In case you prefer to spend more time in Tangier, you can discuss on the day with the driver and guide to adjust the itinerary and remove this last stop.

And at the end of the day, your driver and your guide will take you back again to the cruiseport.
