About this wheelchair accessible Stonehenge and Salisbury cathedral tour

A day entirely devoted to the history of England. Your tour starts at your accommodation in London central, from there your driver guide takes you with private adapted vehicle to Salisbury. During this full-day trip, you visit Stonehenge, one of the most mysterious places in the world, and the Salisbury Cathedral with one of the four original Magna Carta documents.

Stonehenge

Stonehenge is a 500-year-old standing giant stone circle moment. However, what it exactly is… nobody knows. Stonehenge is still one of the most mysterious places in the world.

The circle consists of standing stones. Each one is around 13 feet (4.0 m) high, seven feet (2.1 m) wide, and weighing approximately 25 tons. The rocks are heavily processed, have fastening structures and some lie on top of each other. The stones are from the origin of Whales, around 240 kilometers away. Up until today, it is still not entirely clear how these weighty stones came here. And why specifically this place was chosen. These are some of the questions that remain unanswered.

The stone circle is the center piece of this pre-historic site, but there is much more to see. You find a modern Visitor Centre that exhibits the stories and archaeology of Stonehenge. During the tour, your private driver guide will tell you a lot more about this mysterious place.

Salisbury Cathedral

The Salisbury Cathedral is an Anglican cathedral in Salisbury. The construction of the cathedral began in 1220 and reached its highest point in 1370. Its height of 123,14 meters (404 feet) makes the tower of the Salisbury cathedral the tallest of the United Kingdom. Furthermore, in the Chapter House of the cathedral, you find a copy of the original Magna Carta from 1215.

Magna Carta is one of the most important documents in English history. This document is famous as a symbol of justice, fairness, and human rights. Magna Carta means ‘great charter.’ It is a legal document issued by the king or queen, which guarantees certain rights. In Salisbury, you find the Magna Carta issued by England’s King John. The document was written on parchment, in Latin, by hand by an expert. The document arrived in Salisbury via Elias van Dereham, who was present at the signing in Salisbury. Further you can admire the magnificent stone decorations and beautiful glass windows of Salisbury Cathedral and the 13th-century Gothic masterpiece.

After visiting these two impressive and important historical sites, you drive back to London, and your driver-guide brings you back to your accommodation.
