About this wheelchair accessible visit to Palma and Valldemossa

Palma

This accessible visit to Palma and Valldemossa starts when you meet your private guide and driver at the cruise port, or your accommodation. You start the day exploring Palma, the capital of the island. This lovely city has a great history and amazing architecture which you will discover during this tour. You see the influences of both Moorish and European eras, and the Gothic cathedral, La Seu, dominates the entire city. Most of the main sites are situated within the medieval city walls.

The Old City is a popular starting point for the rolling/walking tour. Both the cathedral and the Palace of l’Almudaina overlook the harbor, and from here you have an amazing view of the sea. High above the town, you have the Bellver Castle. A Gothic style castle that dates back to the 14th century. It was originally built for King James II of Mallorca. The tour also passes by the Town Hall. Here, you can discover the famous 800 years old olive tree and the King’s Gardens.

Valldemossa

Following the visit to La Palma, you continue your tour to Valldemossa, in the hills of Tramuntana Mountain range, a short drive from Palma. Many locals find it one of the prettiest and most charming villages, where forested hills and beautiful countryside surround the little town. The main site in Valldemossa is the 13th-century monastery. The monastery has a connection with the renowned Polish composer Frederic Chopin. He spent a certain winter here, together with his loved one, the French writer Aurore Dupin. She was better known as her alias George Sand. The affair was subject to a lot of the town’s gossip.

The Palace of L’Almudaina has beautiful gardens and also a church that is definitely worth to see!  The village itself is full of charming little streets, cafes, galleries and gift shops. You will find traditional family bakeries that serve the local delight of ‘potato cake’. At the end of the tour, your driver and your guide will bring you back to the cruise port or hotel.
