About this wheelchair accessible Oceanário de Lisbon tour

The perfect tour when visiting Lisbon with children. The Oceanário de Lisbon is a large public aquarium, holding 5 million liters of seawater.

Your driver guide meets you at your hotel or the cruise port, with private adapted vehicle. Together you head to the Oceanário.

The exhibitions organized by the Oceanário and the architectural features of its buildings are a unique and unforgettable experience. The Oceanário consists of two buildings connected by a large forecourt: the original Edifício dos Oceanos (“Oceans Building”) and the new Edifício do Mar (“Sea Building”).

The Oceanário is wheelchair accessible

The largest aquarium in Europe is inspired by the oceans around the world. The building of the Lisbon Oceanarium alone is as impressive as the size of the oceans alltogether. The only way to enter the aquarium is by means of a huge bridge. Which can be great fun when you come with young children, as they might think they are boarding a big ship.

When inside, the first thing you notice is the large tank in the middle of the aquarium, which is particularly impressive. Inside you find different types of sharks, rays, tuna and manta rays. In the corners around the tank, you find different underwater worlds. In addition to different types of fish, also birds can be found on the top floor, including puffins, penguins, and terns. On the lower floor, there are several small aquariums with many special fish. The design of the Oceanário de Lisboa ensures that you get a good overall picture of the complete underwater life.

Optional

After a visit to the Oceanário, you can include a ride in the cable car, which is near the entrance of the Oceanário and an incredible experience. You will not only enjoy a unique view of the river, but also over the northern part of Lisbon. Fully accessible.

If time allows, and depending on the time spend in the Oceanário, there is time for a stop in Rossio Square. At this square, you also find the Jeronimos Monastery and Jeronimos Church (outside visit).

Please note that the Jeronimos Monastery and Jeronimos Church do not open on Mondays.
