Switzerland is the country of the Alps and beautiful lakes. High in the mountains, you have breathtaking views of glaciers and impressive mountain peaks. About Switzerland
Switzerland is characterized by mountain and hill chains, rivers, and lakes. The Jura, the Central Swiss Region, the Prealps, and the Alps as well as the southern side of the Alps form the main geographical areas of the country.
Switzerland has a mild climate with moderate heat, cold and humidity. From July to August, the daytime temperature is around 18 to 28 degrees Celsius. From January to February, the average temperature is about -2 to 7 degrees Celsius. In spring and autumn, the daytime temperature varies between 8 and 15 degrees Celsius. The temperature may vary depending on the altitude.
Switzerland has four official national languages and all kinds of dialects are spoken. The majority of the population lives in the German-speaking part of Switzerland and speaks Swiss German dialects. French is spoken in the west of the country, in Suisse Romande. Some parts are also bilingual in German and French. Italian is spoken in Ticino and four southern parts of Graubünden. The canton of Graubünden is multilingual. German, Italian, and Romansh are spoken. The Romans are the smallest Swiss language group with 0.5% of the population.
The official currency in Switzerland is the Swiss franc (CHF). In many places, you can pay with both your debit and credit card. Generally, no tips are given because this is already included in the bill.
